Black and White Winter Wedding Inspiration for a Modern Bride
This black and white winter wedding inspiration comes just in time for the cozy winter mood we are all in. As soon as we saw the beautiful Woeltingerode Monastery, it was clear to us that this would be the perfect location for a romantic black and white winter wedding.. The Woeltingerode monastery is located in Goslar, a town in the Harz Mountains in the middle of Germany. Mountains and the deep forest together with pretty old towns with countless half-timbered houses create a traditional and romantic atmosphere, enhanced during a black and white winter wedding by a blanket of sparkling snow. In the Harz Mountains, there is a good chance of being surprised by snow on your black and white winter wedding day.
Woeltingerode Monastery - a beautiful historical wedding location in the middle of Germany
The Woeltingerode monastery was built in the Middle Ages in the Gothic style. High ceilings, vaults, and large Gothic pointed arches with filigree designs give a special atmosphere to a black and white winter wedding In addition to a monastery estate, the Woeltingerode monastery now houses a hotel with 54 rooms, offering enough space for small and medium-sized black and white winter wedding parties.A particular advantage of the Woeltingerode monastery is that everything can be done under one roof—perfect for a black and white winter wedding. Civil marriages can take place in the Benedictine hall in the monastery because there is an official branch of the registry office in Goslar. In the monastery church, you can be married either Protestant or Catholic. A beautiful garden is also available for anyone who prefers a symbolic black and white winter wedding rather than a religious one.
A Modern Black and White Winter Wedding Concept in a Traditional Monastery
When developing a wedding concept, we are always influenced by the architecture and surroundings of the wedding location. For a black and white winter wedding, we believe that location and decoration should harmonize. Colors and design elements should be reflected in every decorative detail of the wedding.
Elements of the Gothic architectural style from inspiration for wedding decoration
The Gothic style is characterized by clear vaults, pointed arches and the typical filigree window elements that have a modern geometric shape. For Birte and Max's black and white wedding concept, we took up elements of the Gothic architectural style and interpreted them in a modern way and incorporated their architectural elements into the decoration.
Color concept for a winter wedding in black and white
In order to create a connection between the old building and modern times, we used a clear and at the same time elegant color concept. Black, white and gold are particularly timeless and stylish. At the same time, the colors stand for the season and take up the colors of the architecture in Woeltingerode Abbey. Black like the half-timbering of the monastery buildings, white like the walls and snow in winter and the gold of the decorations of the monastery church form a unity. These colors can be found in all decorative elements of the wedding concept.
Table decoration for a black and white winter wedding
The My China dishes! Ca'd'Oro from the well-known Fuerstenberg porcelain manufacturer was made for the black and white winter wedding concept. The graphic elements of the plates are reminiscent of the Gothic windows' rosettes. The colors black, white, and gold capture the black and white winter wedding theme beautifully. For the table linen, a black velvet tablecloth was chosen. Especially in winter, velvet exudes warmth and comfort, which is perfect for a black and white winter wedding. In contrast, the transparent chairs bring a modern lightness that complements the weight of the fabric.Golden cutlery and glasses with linear and modern shapes were also selected for our black and white winter wedding.
Flowers for a winter wedding
To find the perfect flowers for a winter wedding is always a bit of a challenge. In principle, almost every flower can be sourced from anywhere in the world at anytime, but the quality of the flowers is often not the quality you wish for. Sustainability is very important to us when we design weddings. We therefore prefer to use seasonal and regional offers or use flowers that have as few flight kilometers as possible.
For the flower decoration we selected a combination of white anthuriums, orchids, tulips and ranunculus. Anthuriums and orchids thrive all year round in greenhouses. Tulips and ranunculus are also available from the end of January / beginning of February. The more playful and romantic look of the tulips and ranunculus takes the austerity away from the modern anthuriums and elegant orchids.
Guest favors for a winter wedding
For a winter wedding, high-quality candles are particularly suitable as gifts for wedding guests. Winter and cozy candlelight simply go together. We love the fragrances from Voluspa. The candles not come beautifully packaged with a refined mixture of classic and modern design, they also exude a wonderful fragrance throughout the room.
Wedding dress and bridal accessories
The bride wears a simple and elegant dress with transparent inserts on the sides of Jesus Peiro, which is decorated with a sweet bow. To add a little playful touch, we also took up the motif of the bow in the bridal shoes and in the party favors.
The headpiece and the earrings of the bride come from French designer label Maison Sabben.
