For many, summer doesn't start with the calendar, but with the first bite into a sun-warmed strawberry. That bright red colour, the sweet aroma that spreads between your fingers as you pick it - it's more than just a taste. It is a memory. Of barefoot days in the garden. Of red fingers. Of moments that taste of sunshine.
We harvested our strawberries ourselves this year - on a small plantation on the outskirts of the city. Baskets of freshness, straight from nature. And with the first basket came the idea: why not turn the most beautiful fruits of summer into table decorations?
The result is a very special styling: a Strawberry decoration with poppies, natural, seasonal and surprisingly sustainable. Because what looks like decoration can be eaten with relish after dinner. No waste, no excess - just genuine enjoyment combined with a sense of design.
In this article, we show you how to create a table that celebrates early summer with simple means - sensual, minimalist and full of atmosphere. And how strawberries can be transformed into a stylish story that you can see, smell and taste.

Strawberries & poppies stylishly combined
Hardly an early summer goes by without them - strawberries are one of those ingredients that not only characterise the taste, but also the mood of the season. Their rich colour, organic shape and fragrance make them much more than just a dessert: they tell of gardens, of childhood, of moments that taste of sunshine.
This is precisely why strawberries are an excellent addition to table decorations. They look fresh and inviting, are edible and incredibly photogenic - and they bring a naturalness to the table that doesn't look contrived, but genuine.
In combination with Poppies, which, with their delicate stems and bright flowers, conjure up an almost poetic lightness on the table, create a look that is deliberately imperfect - and that is precisely why it is so effective. Poppies are wild, free and informal. It stands in stark contrast to classic wedding roses or perfectly tied bouquets - and that is precisely what makes it so appealing.
When strawberries and poppies come together, a picture of summer is created that is not overloaded, but lively. The structure of the linen fabric, the matt cutlery, the transparent glass - all of this supports this naturalness without forcing itself into the foreground.
It is a styling that is not only decorative, but also emotional. Because what is on this table is not just beautiful - it tells of seasonality, of conscious selection and of a summer that can be celebrated with all the senses.
Colour palette: Strawberries x poppy seeds
This table decoration lives from an expressive colour contrast: Bright red meets clear white. What appears minimalist at first glance reveals a special depth on closer inspection.
The red - rich, fresh, sensual - is the colour of ripeness, pleasure and vibrancy. It is reminiscent of fields full of poppies, strawberries fresh from the bush and the carefree flavour of a summer's day. In the table setting, it attracts everyone's attention - emotional, powerful, inviting.
The white forms the calm antithesis to this. It brings lightness, elegance and a visual clarity that organises the overall picture and emphasises the details - from the folded fabric to the fruit. It looks like a white sheet of paper on which the red is allowed to tell its story.
Together, the two colours create an atmosphere that is pure and modern, but at the same time close to nature and sensual. They speak to the heart - through their connection to the season, the harvest, the flowering time. And they calm the eye because they work without unnecessary distraction.
And it expresses what makes this summer table so special: a feeling of presence, pleasure and conscious beauty.

Poppies - beautiful, but fleeting
Anyone passing a field of poppies in June often stops involuntarily. The bright red flowers, loosely scattered in the tall grass, look like a spontaneous promise of summer. No garden design, no order - just colour, wind and light.
When the flowers sway in the wind, a special calm is created. Not a loud spectacle, more like a gentle caress. It is this movement that fascinates so many people: the gentle tilting of the stems, the blossoming and collapsing again, almost like a breath of the landscape.
It is precisely because poppies are not made for long periods in a vase that they have such an immediate effect. Everything is there for a moment: the colour, the lightness, the memory of warm summer days. Maybe that's enough?
The bright red poppies are the most poetic detail of this table decoration - we actually picked them straight from the field. Their delicate petals and deep red colour bring an almost fragile lightness to the table - especially in the white NARA ceramic vases, which, with their simple form, provide a calm stage.
But as beautiful as the poppy is, it is not a flower for eternity. The flowers often lose their vigour after just a few hours, even if they are freshly cut and immediately placed in water. A little trick can help them last longer: Dip the ends of the stems briefly in hot water or seal with a candle flame - this prevents the milky plant sap from blocking the ducts.
Nevertheless, poppies remain a flower of the moment. If you want to stage the table for several hours - for example for a summer dinner outdoors or a long party with guests - it is better to choose more robust varieties such as Iceland poppy or Turkish poppy. They appear somewhat tamer, but retain their shape and colour for longer.
Our tip: Using poppies in different stages - closed buds, opening flowers and falling leaves tell a story together. In this way, fleetingness also becomes part of the experience - delicate, honest and special. A beautiful contrast to the opulent Strawberry decoration - and a conscious play with transience.
Enjoy sustainably - decorate consciously
This summer table is not only a visual highlight, but also a statement in favour of conscious consumption. All elements of the decoration can be either Eat, reuse or rent - in the spirit of a sustainable lifestyle that combines aesthetics and responsibility.
The strawberries come from a self-picking plantation in the region - seasonal, unpackaged and straight from the field to the table. After dinner, they don't disappear as decorative rubbish, but are used for dessert or eaten straight away. The floral part was also chosen with care: Corn poppies from the meadow - the picture on the right shows Irka collecting them - bring naturalness and summery lightness to the design. Without the need for expensive imports or packaging, a strawberry decoration with poppies becomes a sustainable highlight.
The rest of the styling is just as deliberately chosen. The linen napkins in poppy flower red provide strong colour accents. The MOON cutlery in matt silver brings simple elegance to the table - discreet, modern and versatile. Atmospheric lighting is provided by the LED table lamp LUXE in white, stylish, mobile and sustainably rechargeable. And the NARA ceramic vases in white The poppies are staged in a pleasantly restrained manner.
All these elements are part of our Decoration hire - high-quality, reusable and ideal for hosts who want to live their style without compromising on sustainability.

Why is the corn poppy called „corn poppy“?
The name „clapping poppy“ probably comes from an old children's game: the delicate flowers were placed between two palms and burst with a firm slap - accompanied by a quiet but clear „clap“. A playful moment full of summer memories.
But there is another explanation: the flower often collapses after just a few hours - like a brief, intense appearance that fades with a „clap“. The poppy thus symbolises the beauty of the moment - fleeting, luminous, alive.
