A colour that smells of spring
Lilac table decorations thrive on nuances. Because lilac is not just lilac - it alternates between mauve, violet, lavender and rosé. It is precisely this subtle interplay of colours that makes it so appealing: The atmosphere is light, almost floating, and at the same time sensual, clear and deliberately composed. The palette is bold in colour - but never loud. Just like the lilac itself.
Purple is a colour full of contrasts - and that is precisely why it is so fascinating. It combines the calm depth of blue with the sensual warmth of red. Depending on the shade, it can appear delicate and romantic, strong and creative or mystical and mysterious.
The colour scheme of our spring look is reminiscent of Radiant Orchid, The Pantone colour of the year 2014, a vibrant shade of purple with floral depth - inspired by nature, creativity and change.
This balance is what makes lilac so attractive for the table. Because the secret of successful table decorations with lilac lies in the tone-on-tone principle: the Linen tablecloth in lilac purple lays the foundation. In addition Candles in pastel purple, delicately tinted Georgia glasses in antique pink, Napkins in Wisteria purple - Every detail understated, together a quiet statement: spring freshness in purple.

Hardly any other flower is as delicate as the lilac. It has a beguiling scent, looks gorgeous - and unfortunately often collapses after just 24 to 48 hours. The stems droop, the flowers wilt, the whole splendour fades faster than you can see. Lilacs are - quite honestly - a mimosa.
But that's exactly why it's worth paying special attention to it. Because with a few simple tricks, it not only stays fresh for longer - it becomes a real highlight on your table.
In our video we show you how to cut and prepare lilacs correctly and how to make them bloom at least twice as long in the vase.
And if you then arrange it loosely - for example in a transparent Klimchi carafe or in several small Hobnail glasses- creates a lively picture full of lightness. Not too perfect, not too well-behaved. But just right.

When the lilac blossoms, it not only exudes its fragrance - but also a fine, floral note in the kitchen. This makes it the star of this delicate syrup.
Ingredients list for approx. 500 ml:
- 500 ml water
- 500 g sugar or honey
- 200 g lilac blossoms
- 2 organic lemons
Recipe:
- Pluck the individual lilac blossoms from the umbels. Please do not wash to preserve the flavour.
- Place the water, sugar or honey and lilac blossoms in a saucepan and bring to the boil, stirring until the sugar or honey has completely dissolved.
- If you like, you can add a handful of blueberries for colour.
- Boil the syrup for a further 3 minutes and leave to cool until lukewarm. Cut the lemons in half and squeeze out the juice. Stir in the squeezed lemon juice. Cover the pan and leave to infuse. Then pour the lilac syrup through a fine sieve into a clean, rinsed glass bottle and store in a cool place.
- To make a delicious lilac lemonade, simply add ice cubes, lemon slices, sparkling water and lilac syrup to taste in a carafe or glass.
