Wedding in Budapest

Budapest - the diamond in Europe captivates with beautiful wedding venues

Have you ever strolled along the banks of the Danube and enjoyed the marvellous view of Budapest's fascinating buildings? That alone is enough to make you dream of a romantic destination wedding in Budapest. Due to the historical ties between Hungary and Austria, the two countries share similar architecture. Lovers of Art Nouveau, which is characteristic of Vienna and Budapest, will get their money's worth here. Many other architectural styles and buildings adorn Budapest and create this very special, elegant atmosphere. Getting married abroad is becoming increasingly popular. Budapest has a lot to offer here.

For this destination wedding in Budapest, we chose the elegant buildings, the gentle movement of the waters of the beautiful Danube and the grace of the city as inspiration for the design concept.

Two wedding venues separated by the Danube

Part of the couple's shoot took place at the famous Fisherman's Bastion. This wedding venue in Budapest is built of white limestone and sits on a hill overlooking the Danube. The ceremony can be held in the beautiful Matthias Church nearby. The wedding reception took place in the so-called Ice Palace. You would expect a modern building behind the name, but behind it is a magnificent property that looks more like a royal palace. The magnificent rooms are perfect for a wedding. The ice palace has a great view of the huge lake, which freezes in winter and provides an opportunity for ice skating. The Vajdahunyad Castle can also be seen from the ice palace.

As the two locations of this Destination Wedding were on the other side of the Danube, we took the bridal couple to the venues in water taxis. This unusual form of transport allowed the couple to admire the city one more time. It is no coincidence that the water taxis look like traditional Venetian water taxis. Dunarama's boats are built in shipyards in Venice. This mode of transport again builds a bridge to the theme of water that characterised the Wedding destination.

Budapest is a real insider tip for a wedding abroad. Compared to other cities with impressive architecture such as Vienna, Budapest is simply cheaper. Nevertheless, all the things a couple could wish for can be found here.

A colour concept in blue as a metaphor for the light waves of the water

Standing on the banks of the Danube, the beautiful limestone buildings are reflected in the water. This light and airy atmosphere of the city was a great inspiration for the concept of this wedding. The main colour is blue, which is used in different shades. This allows the water to be depicted as vividly as possible. The shades of blue can be found in the suit, the floristry, the table decorations and the silk ribbons. White is used here as a neutral colour to remind us of the white limestone, which also describes the special style of the wedding venues. Small accents come in a bright yet subtle silver colour.

The blue and white colour scheme is perfect for spring, as the lightness and bright colours are simply reminiscent of a gentle spring breeze. At the end of this post you will also find a colour palette for this destination wedding in Budapest. The styling of an elegant wedding in Budapest

With the blue colour scheme and elegant mood, the table decorations should also complement the theme perfectly. This style continued with the white linen tablecloths and napkins. Vista Alegre's Blue Ming table setting fitted the theme beautifully and the patterned plates are very unusual. We always endeavour to pay attention to all the small details and the pattern on the plates also matches the glasses, which are from Vista Alegre's Splendour Crystalware Collection.

The stationery is handmade. The talented calligrapher Oh Julie has illustrated the Fisherman's Bastion and created a shallow, blue background that looks like water and pays homage to the Danube.
