The old world meets stylish modernity - wedding inspiration for a winter wedding in black and white
This wedding inspiration comes just in time for the cosy winter mood we're all in. As soon as we saw the beautiful Wöltingerode Monastery, we realised that this would be the perfect wedding location for a romantic winter wedding in black and white. Wöltingerode Abbey is located in Goslar, a town in the Harz Mountains. Mountains and the deep forest, together with pretty old towns with countless half-timbered houses, create a traditional and romantic atmosphere. Even better when the landscape is covered in a blanket of glistening snow. In the Harz Mountains, there is a good chance of being surprised with snow on your wedding day-perfect for a winter wedding in black and white.
Wöltingerode Monastery - a beautiful historic wedding venue in the centre of Germany
Wöltingerode Monastery was built in the Middle Ages in the Gothic style. High ceilings, vaulted ceilings and large Gothic pointed arches with the tracery typical of the Gothic style, the filigree design element in the geometric shape of the windows, create a special atmosphere for a winter wedding in black and white. Today, Wöltingerode Monastery is home to a monastery estate and a hotel with 54 rooms, offering enough space for small and medium-sized wedding parties.
A particular advantage of Wöltingerode Monastery is that everything is possible here under one roof - ideal for a winter wedding in black and white. Civil weddings can take place in the Benedictine hall in the monastery, as an official branch of the Goslar registry office is located here. Protestant or Catholic weddings can be held in the monastery church. A beautiful garden is also available for those who would prefer a free wedding ceremony instead of a religious one.
A modern wedding concept in black and white for a winter wedding in a monastery
When developing a wedding concept, we are always influenced by the architecture and surroundings of the wedding location. For a winter wedding in black and white, we believe that the location and decoration should form a unity. Colours and design elements should be reflected in the decoration of the wedding.
Elements of the Gothic architectural style from Inspiration for the winter wedding in black and white
The Gothic architectural style is characterised by clear vaults, pointed arches and the typical filigree window elements, which have a modern geometric shape. For Birte and Max's wedding concept, we took elements of the Gothic architectural style and interpreted them in a modern way to incorporate them into the decoration of their black and white winter wedding.
Colour concept for a winter wedding in black and white
To create a link between the old building and modern times, we used a clear yet elegant colour concept. Black, white and gold are particularly timeless and stylish. At the same time, the colours represent the season and pick up on the colours of the architecture in Wöltingerode Monastery. Black, like the half-timbering of the monastery buildings, white, like the walls and the snow in winter, and the gold of the decorations in the monastery church form a unity. These colours are reflected in all the decorative elements of the winter wedding in black and white.
Table Decoration
The „My China! Ca'd'Oro“ tableware from the renowned Fürstenberg porcelain manufactory was perfect for the black and white winter wedding concept. The graphic elements of the plates are reminiscent of the rose windows of Gothic window arches and the colours black, white and gold reflect the chosen colour concept.
For the table linen, we opted for a black velvet tablecloth. Especially in winter, velvet exudes warmth and cosiness, which is perfect for a winter wedding in black and white. The transparent chairs form a contrast to this, as they are not only modern, but their transparency counteracts the heaviness of the fabric with a certain lightness.
We have also chosen linear and modern shapes for the golden cutlery and glasses.
Flowers for a modern winter wedding in black and white
Flowers in winter are always a bit of a challenge. Although almost any flower can be sourced from any part of the world all year round, the quality of the flowers often leaves a lot to be desired. Sustainability is very important to us at the weddings we organise. We therefore prefer to use seasonal and regional offerings or flowers that have travelled as few kilometres as possible.
For the floral decorations, we opted for a combination of white anthuriums, orchids, tulips and ranunculus. Anthuriums and orchids thrive in greenhouses all year round. Tulips and ranunculus are available from the end of January/beginning of February. The more playful and romantic look of the tulips and ranunculus takes the edge off the modern anthuriums and elegant orchids - ideal for a winter wedding in black and white.
Gifts for a winter wedding
For a winter wedding, high-quality candles are particularly suitable as a gift for the wedding guests. Winter and cosy candlelight simply belong together. We love the fragrances from Voluspa. Not only do the candles have packaging with a sophisticated mix of classic and modern design, but they also give off a wonderful scent throughout the room-perfect for a winter wedding in black and white.

Wedding dress and bridal accessories
The bride wears a simple and elegant dress with sheer inserts on the sides by Jesus Peiro, which is decorated with a sweet bow. To add a little playful touch, we also picked up the bow motif in the bridal shoes and guest favours - a wonderful addition for a winter wedding in black and white.
The bride's headpiece and earrings are from French designer label Maison Sabben.
